Why Sit In The Sun, When You Can Stand Up?

Last week saw our belated summer season make a much appreciated appearance, much to the joy of sun bathers and Stand Up Paddleboarders alike.

Beautifully captured by Metro newspaper, this lone figure enjoys a peaceful sunset paddle along Brighton's shoreline.
Up the coast however in Shoreham, the sea was awash with Paddleboarders taking full advantage of the calm sea and warm weather.
With the perfect conditions brought many new comers to the sport and K66 jumped at the opportunity to hold first official girls 'Board Meetings' which started over the weekend and on into Tuesday.

So when the summer sun, turns in to a cold winter one, what will the girls do then? "I'll have to buy a winter wetsuit then" commented one, "and maybe some booties!". "Oh, and take a flask of tea...!"
The girls were on an array of Fanatic boards, from the 11'0" Fly Soft Deck through to the 9'6" Allwave. Most of the girls had never done anything like this before, with an exception of the occasional boogie boarding on holiday and all did amazingly well.

This is a sport for all and it is surprisingly addictive; and whilst the conditions out at sea won't always be ideal, the river will always make for a good substitute.
Keep an eye out on the K66 website for the up and coming 'Board Meetings' section and you can also check out what happened at the last.
