I first saw some SUP footage of Laird back in 2004 and in 2005 started the sport for myself. I brought a 12'6 surf board which was only 26 inches wide...very tippy, and made a paddle out of a broken Kayak paddle by adding a handle to the end....which was too short!! And so, my new addiction to ride was there and for the first year I was a complete beginner at this challenging new way to Surf. As time went on I got better and a few races started to appear at which I did well and a whole other side of being on the water started to happen.
For me, exploring the coastline and waterways of the Southeast , as well as enjoying many of the Surf spots opened up a whole new stoke and I felt as though I was starting all over again.
I am really stoked to be joining K66 and coming onboard as a Fanatic rider. To start with most of the team are great friends and I hope that in joining the guys I will be able to help to develop a strong team by way of group training, and additional assistance on dietary requirements which will help provide better results at all levels. I believe Fanatic will be making great progress this coming season and beyond.
